Behind The Scenes of a Maternity Photoshoot | What to Expect From a Maternity Photo Session

What to Expect From a Maternity Photo Session

The best time to schedule your maternity photo session is between 32 and 36 weeks, so your bump isn’t too little and you don’t go into labor before the photo session. Also, avoid wearing any tight fitting clothes near your belly on the day of your photoshoot so you don’t end up with marks that’ll show up in your bare belly photos.

If you’re feeling uncomfortable with your new pregnant body or don’t feel comfortable posing in front of a camera, don’t worry one bit. I will guide you and show you how to pose to get the best maternity photos.

There are no surprises, I’ll show you how the pictures are turning out on my camera as we go along. I know the suspense before seeing your beautiful images is killer!

Make sure you clear your schedule on the day of your maternity photo session so you have time to rest, relax and pamper yourself so you’re feeling your best when you arrive, then we’ll take care of the rest.

Behind the Scenes Videography - Tips for a Newborn Photo Session

This behind the scenes videography by my husband Chris, will give you an idea of what to expect from a newborn photo session.

The first tip for a successful newborn session is to feed your baby before their photoshoot so they’re full and ready for a nap. Hungry babies get a bit fussy and wake up frequently.

The second tip for your newborn photoshoot is to keep your diaper bag handy for quick cleanups. Naked babies tend to have more accidents, something about the cool air against their skin. Though, we are sure to keep them warm in our studio with a handy space heater.

The third tip for your newborn photoshoot is to bring a few items for a personal touch. Keep your wedding rings handy for a beautiful representation of the little miracle that blossomed from your marriage. A special stuffed animal or a family heirloom are also good ideas.

And last but certainly not least, the fourth tip is to keep your clothing simple. Busy patterns, logos or too many colors all take the focus off of the baby. Here are some bonus tips for you too: Be patient, have fun and don’t stress.
